Walk or Run?

I just signed up for my first ever mini triathalon. 1/2 mile swim, 10 mile bike, 3 mile run. Do you have a daily training regimem for beginners? I've look around and can't seem to find a day by day guide for training.

Steven from NE

Hi Steven,
Thank you for contacting TriathaNewbie.com and welcome to the world of triathlons!

We do not post training routines on our website, only information that dispels mini-tri myths and help new-comers transition themselves into the world of triathlons. Most potential newbies get psyched out before they even understand that tris may look big on the first glance, but are cut into small manageable pieces that they can, in fact, conquer with some preparation.

We do recommend a book called, Triathlete Magazine's Complete Triathlon Book: The Training, Diet, Health, Equipment, and Safety Tips You Need to Do Your Best. It is very easy to understand and has some great information in there. They take the time to explain what is actually happening with your body as it trains so that you can be an educated participant, not just a guy following some random directions. It starts with the basic terms, describes training methods, explains nutrition, outlines proper equipment and it is VERY easy to understand. All of the questions you have are answered in this book. For instance, it explains pool etiquette, stretching techniques, fabric for training apparel, how to buy the proper bike, how to buy the proper shoe and even goes as far as to explain how to maintenance your bike.

Please let us know if you have any other questions and feel free to email us to let us know how you’re doing. Your adventure just may inspire another person like yourself!

Be well.
Julie
