Inspiration for ALL TriathaNewbies!

Testimonial written by Gwendolyn from New York.

Triathlon InspirationI did it! I really didn't know what to expect but I had been swimming a lot and doing bike/run workouts as much as possible. I wanted to do a tri because I love swimming and everyone else says that it is their worst part. I ended up doing the .5 mile swim in 16:58 -- this was faster than the 2nd place women in my age group!!! Of course, the rest of the tri was not as speedy (I am weakest on the run...unlike everyone else...and lost tons of time there) but I cannot believe how much FUN it was! If you are a woman and want to break into a triathlon, I strongly recommend, encourage, you to to find an ALL WOMEN tri - the support I had throughout the race was unbelievable. There were so many first timers there and we were all cheering each other on. During the bike I offered support to other girls by screaming out "Power Power Power" and\"Come on Girls - show these hills whose boss!" and it was obvious how this got everyone going. during the Run, a woman came up behind me and offered the support I needed to make it to the finish line - and in the end, she and I finished together. It was amazing and I can't wait to do my next one!

Thanks so much to the good folks at TriathaNewbie - you guys answered my questions and made me feel ready.
