| Using a Mountain Bike in a Triathlon
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A mountain bike is fine for your first mini-triathlon especially if the triathlon is off-road. Even if it's not off-road, it's still a fine. Once you're hooked, it would benefit you to get a road bike. Mountain bikes are generally heavier, have thicker tires and aren't so aerodynamic. These features are great for off-road activity, but will slow you down a bit and suck some of your energy on the road. Road bikes are lighter, have thinner tires and will make you one with the wind. That's the route you'd want to take long term. Let us know how it goes!
