Thank you for contacting TriathaNewbie.com! We are very impressed with your determination to succeed and excited that you chose to direct your energy towards the sport of triathlon! We would suggest that you head over to our Georgia Triathlon Event page and see if any of the events listed there catch your eye. From there, you should call the event administrators to see what their policy is for physically challenged persons. We’re sure that they will be supportive and helpful in every possible way. Regarding workouts, we encourage newbies to check out the following books for training solutions. Where every single person is very different, we want to give you the option to pick a guide that best fits you so that you can be successful.
If you feel that these training guides won’t work for you, we think that you are making the right decision by hiring a coach. He/she can tailor a workout that better suits your needs. Just as an aside, one of the most famous duos in triathlon history, Team Hoyt, was recently inducted into the Ironman Triathlon Hall of Fame in Kona, Hawaii for their amazing contributions in paving the way for physically challenged folks in triathlon. We’ve been to one of their speaking engagements and were in awe of their courage, determination and “abilities”. They’ve done more in their lifetime than many able-bodied persons will ever think of doing. Check the out!
