| Swimming Without your Glasses
John from Minnesota ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Starting a triathlon with an enormous headache is definitely not the best route to go! Being a person who wears glasses and cannot see that great without them, especially underwater, I suggest that you run right out and get contacts! Contacts are a miracle for those of us who are blind without our glasses. Once you get them, there is an adjustment period, so you want to be sure that you get them asap so that your eyes can get used to them first. You should never try anything new on race day, so be sure to wear your contacts during practice swims to see if you have to make any adjustments to your goggles. If your goggles tend to leak, the contacts can get very uncomfortable. Alternatively, you should consider investing in a pair of prescription goggles. They may cost a bit of money, but if you plan to stick with triathlons or just swimming, it might be a good idea. Be well. TriathaNewbie.com Staff Member
