| Swimming in the Deep End
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting TriathaNewbie.com! Yes, open water triathlons do take place in the “deep end”. All races have lifeguards on surfboards or kayaks and you can hold onto to them to rest, but it’s so much better to prepare for the distance of the swim and complete it on your own. Here is a funny story of a first-time triathlete experiencing open water after only have trained in a pool. Be well.
