Thank you for contacting TriathaNewbie.com! You are our hero! We thought we were big shots starting our triathlon journey in our 30's, but our hats are off to you! This is a great healthy goal to accomplish and we hope you inspire more 50+ers to get up off of the couch and give a triathlon a try. Shoot over to our California Triathlon Event page to check out the races listed there. We don't specifically know of any 50+ triathlons, but all triathlons are separated into age groups, so we're sure that you will be able to find something that suits your tastes. You might run (no pun intended) into an issue with not being able to run. You should be able to complete each leg of the triathlon which means that you should be able to swim properly, bike and run/jog -- not walk. Although we've all walked during the run with a cramp or to catch our breath, we don't train to walk. Our suggestion is that you call the race official for the race you choose. Ask him if walking is permitted or not. He may tell you no because they have a time limit based on the permit they've pulled from the city of the race. He may tell you it's fine.
